Programme Overview

The B.A. (Hons.) Applied Psychology at MRIIRS is a four-year undergraduate program in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP). The program has been planned to provide students with a strong basis in psychology by incorporating theoretical study with practical exposure. The students will study human behavior, psychological processes, and their applications through a carefully designed course and field exposure.

During the course, students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to operate in mental health, research, education, and corporate fields. Both theoretical knowledge and practical application are emphasized by the program as students learn to apply psychological principles to everyday problems. Graduates, through the program, become ready for various career paths as well as advanced studies in the field of psychology.

Specialisations Offered

MRIIRS's B.A. (Hons.) Applied Psychology gives students a number of electives, where they can specialize in the fields of their interest as per their career aspirations and own interests. The following are the short descriptions of each of the electives:

  • Sports Psychology: Takes into account the impact of psychological principles on sports performance, motivation, team working, and well-being among athletes.
  • Psychology and Virtual Worlds: Considers the effects of online relationships and virtual worlds on mental processes, human behavior, and identity.
  • Psychology of Education: Focused on the application of psychological theories and practices to improve learning, student development, and teaching in schools.
  • Geriatric Psychology: Examines psychological aging processes such as mental illness, cognitive performance, and emotional well-being among the aged.
  • Organisational Psychology: Examines how psychological principles are applied to foster workplace interaction, motivation of employees, leadership, and work performance.

These electives aim to provide students with practical experience and technical training that can be used across different career environments.

Flexible Exit Options:

  • The student can opt to exit after 3 years with a B.A. in Applied Psychology (120 credits), or opt for a fourth year to graduate with an Honors/Research degree with 160 credits.

Minor Degree Option:

  • There is also the facility of earning a minor degree by adding an extra 18 credits so that students may enhance their academic record.
